In Berlin, the International Women’s Day is a public holiday since 2019. It is of course a day to celebrate our mothers, sisters, grandmothers, girlfriends, bosses, friends, and peers. Women that have uplifted and supported me, especially within Flow SEO.
Empowering Womxn
We are 66% women and largely women-led. I am very honored and inspired by the work ethic, talent, wisdom and empathy that Rebecca Bowden, Helene Jelenc, Laura James, Gabriela Nuñez, Angela Ash, Maja Djordjevic, Abril Lombardi, and Rachel Morey have brought to the team. I am very grateful!
But International Women’s Day is also a day to demonstrate and fight for women’s empowerment.
I have been lucky (and privileged): Born in Germany and welcomed to the SEO industry at a time where conference organizers became interested in creating diverse lineups.
My thoughts are with all the women who are fighting for the very things that many of us take for granted: Voting rights, equality, education, career opportunities, health, right of abortion, financial freedom and the freedom to make their own decisions.
Womxn represent 49.58% of the world population and if we are not fighting for everyone, we are fighting for no-one.
As humanity, we rise together. And in many ways our economical, ecological, social and ethical sustainability is determined by how we treat women and children.
Let this be a day where we celebrate how far we have come – as well as the day where we acknowledge that there is still lots of work to do.
